Decorating with Fruit for the Holidays

Decorating with fresh fruit dates back for centuries. In colonial Williamsburg, you will see fruit decor on just about everything! Fresh evergreens and nuts complement these amazing designs. From wreaths to window sills, door plaques to fence posts, visitors will delight in this graceful decorating theme.

Here are some easy to do ideas to try in your own home.
With almost any glass vessel, you can create simple an elegant arrangements for your center pieces or placed on a sideboard or buffet. Just by adding simple cuttings from your yard, a satin ribbon or a candle, you can capture the feeling of nature in your holiday design.

 




Two wreath ideas are shown below. Start with a fresh wreath for the most realistic effect.
Artichokes, pomegranates and oranges are the show stoppers here. By adding pine cones and cinnamon sticks you will give an amazing welcome to your guests!

Other dried elements add color and texture to this beauty.

 A few other ideas to use fruit around the house is on the mantle.
How about a cranberry garland!
By adding more cranberries to vases filled with fresh flowers you have a masterpiece.
Using kumquats to create decorative balls will add so much color to your home.
Simple styrofoam balls, pins, smalls greenery and ribbon is all you need.

    

Why not use some of your fine crystal, a few votive candles, fruit and greenery to deck the mantle?
