Global Design: Mexico

Today we begin our journey to MEXICO! 

This is part of our Global Design series where I hope to inspire you from other countries and get you rethinking your own home. 

Mexico is a warm and tropical location so that plays a big part in their design.

Notice all of the bright colors. Their lively culture brings this feeling to so many of their design elements in wonderful patterns, color schemes and textures. This design style also offers a ton of details in woodwork. 

Occasionally, colors are muted to tone down. This is a great trick if you live in a warmer area.

Out and About: Side Tables

As I am OUT AND ABOUT shopping for clients, I often get inspired by other items.

Today's venture shows off the FABULOUS side tables

I found at my local Ross, Marshall's and Home Goods Stores.

You really can find amazing deals. Designer looks at a fraction of the cost!

This is a great piece that can work so well in a Tuscan or Moroccan design.

I love this modern piece. And as always, you need a little black in every room!

A little rustic and storage all in one great piece!

Yes, a side table can be something as unique as this wicker stool.
Add a tray for drinks and your favorite design magazine.

Another piece that is rustic.
How about using this one in a bathroom?

Do you prefer HIGH GLAM?
This one is for you. It would make a great bedside table. 

Small but such a statement piece.

Nesting tables that are rustic and strong.

French Country Design: Room Inspirations

Another country in our GLOBAL DESIGN SERIES. 

This month we are featuring FRANCE!

One of my all time favorite design styles is French Country. I know many fabrics and products in the marketplace show a lot of pattern and bright colors and yes, that is a big part of this design style but I want to inspire you with a few more options.  

Here are some great room ideas to get you the rethinking French Country style. 

This room shows many antiques which is one of the biggest elements of this style. 
I love how they use so many textures and the gilded pieces to dress up the room.

Yes, you can have darker colors for this French Country feel.
To update the look, add a modern piece like the desk above and don't forget to add a little animal print too!

The ultimate French Country bedroom features toile.
By using the same pattern on the window treatments, pillows and a throw you have created the perfect and balanced room.

The room above shows the most rustic of the style.
Keeping objects simple and not a lot of clutter is the key to this look.
Let the pieces speak to you and your guests. 

Formal rooms love being dressed in the French Country style. The kidney shaped sofas dressed in light yellow upholstery paired with the dark woods tones showcases the richness this style can offer.

Fall Inspired Bedrooms

We all want a warm and cozy bedroom. Fall colors are a perfect way to make this happen. Look outside to the beautiful leaves on the trees, the weathered barns, the rocks in the streams. All of these can offer you the color palette you need to create your bedroom. So if you are designing your master bedroom or even a guest room, here are some rooms to guide you!

 The rustic barn wood in the nightstands and heaboard set the tone for "refined rustic". By adding a colorful stripe bedding, you add the life to the room. Simple lamps and artwork keep the room restful.

This is a modern way to transform your room with fall color. Starting off with the orange padded headboard and footboard. This sets the tone for the room and color scheme. Keeping the linens simple as well as the lamp are the best choice. As you can see, the showstopper is the mural of leaves. What better way to add that fall touch!

 Another modern room with fall color. Rich reds, oranges and golds are the choice in this bedroom. Notice again simple accessories. The main design element in this room is the wooden ceiling treatment. How stunning. The design also hosts a large, wooden framed mirror over the bed. This helps reflects the beautiful outdoor landscape.

I love this room. Simple wood furniture with clean lines. Notice the texture in the bedding in the throw and the pillows. With the mercury glass lamp and printed pillows, this room has an exoctic feel. The true fall element in this room are the prints above the bed.

Do you wat to try and recreate the artwork?

Real leaves can be decoupaged onto canvas. It's that simple. Just remember to choose large enough leaves or have a collection to show off. Not that crafty? Why not take pictures of some in your own yard and blow them up and frame them.
