Save money after Valentine's Day

If you are like me, you like to save money. But you also like to have some really cute stuff to add to your home and give as gifts. That is why I love stocking up after holidays. If you have the color red, pink, or purple in your home, now is the time to do just that! So many stores now have their Valentine's decor on sale.

I also love stocking up on gift wrap, gift bags and even gifts too. You just need to think about who you need to buy for in the future. Teachers, mothers, girl friends, and daughters might all be on that list with many items during this time.

Here are a few I found online to help you start grabbing some great bargains for others or yourself!

I found all of these items at Pier 1. Great gifts, pillows and a few red decorative elements for your home.

And great to use many times throughout the year...Christmas, Valentine's Day,  Special events and even Thanksgiving. Mix them with other fall colors such as orange, greens and purples to a table that wows!

Red accessories to WOW your home!

Need to add a little WOW FACTOR to your home? Red will do just that.
Almost any color you currently have might just work with red. Make sure you choose the right tone...
red-orange or a red-blue to truly coordinate with items you already own.

Here are some FABULOUS accessories to give that pop of color you might just be lacking.

How about a cool and modern clock to add flair to your work space or kitchen?

Or add a fun RED PILLOW to jazz up your sofa or bed!

A FANTASTIC RED SCREEN will make a great addition to a room in the corner.
You can also use it to separate two areas in a large space.

Need a new end table with storage? Try this look for your own home.

Grouping like items will make a powerful statement in any room.
Plus using the color red...a winning combination!

Cute little mirrors like the one below can be added to any room.
Think of using picture frames as well to jazz up your space.

Lanterns are so popular right now. They can be used indoors or out.
And if you are afraid of real candles, try out the new battery operated candle options.
They come in many different shapes and colors!

A gorgeous red vase can stand alone as a beautiful art object
or group several together for added impact. Or use one single flower for a dramatic look!

If you want a real show stopper then check out the mirror below.
Imagine this in an entryway, over a dresser or how about in a half bath!
Great drama and flair in a single piece.

Need some big accessories for your home?
Disks on stands will give you the height you might just need.
And in a rich red color, well, it's a winner in my book!

One last WOW FACTOR....an Asian screen. You can mix this style with almost any other design style.
Think of mounting it on a wall behind a sofa, use it as a headboard in a bedroom,
or why not show it off in a hallway! This will add that "something extra" to the space that seems to not get decorated.

Now is a great time to STOCK UP on red accessories in many stores such as Pier 1TargetMarshall's, and Kirklands.  They all have their red items out to push during the Valentine's Day sales. And better yet, hit the sales after the holiday. You will find your best deals then. And if you really LOVE the color RED, Christmas shopping season is a great time to find even more accessories for your home.

Do you have a favorite accessory listed above? I'd love your input!!! Any that you would try and where would you use in your own home?

Thanks for your comments and HAPPY DECORATING!!!

Fall Inspired Bedrooms

We all want a warm and cozy bedroom. Fall colors are a perfect way to make this happen. Look outside to the beautiful leaves on the trees, the weathered barns, the rocks in the streams. All of these can offer you the color palette you need to create your bedroom. So if you are designing your master bedroom or even a guest room, here are some rooms to guide you!

The rustic barn wood in the nightstands and heaboard set the tone for "refined rustic". By adding a colorful stripe bedding, you add the life to the room. Simple lamps and artwork keep the room restful.
This is a modern way to transform your room with fall color. Starting off with the orange padded headboard and footboard. This sets the tone for the room and color scheme. Keeping the linens simple as well as the lamp are the best choice. As you can see, the showstopper is the mural of leaves. What better way to add that fall touch!
Another modern room with fall color. Rich reds, oranges and golds are the choice in this bedroom. Notice again simple accessories. The main design element in this room is the wooden ceiling treatment. How stunning. The design also hosts a large, wooden framed mirror over the bed. This helps reflects the beautiful outdoor landscape.
I love this room. Simple wood furniture with clean lines. Notice the texture in the bedding in the throw and the pillows. With the mercury glass lamp and printed pillows, this room has an exoctic feel. The true fall element in this room are the prints above the bed.

Do you wat to try and recreate the artwork?
Real leaves can be decoupaged onto canvas. It's that simple. Just remember to choose large enough leaves or have a collection to show off. Not that crafty? Why not take pictures of some in your own yard and blow them up and frame them.

I would love to see your FALL DESIGN in your own home.

DESIGN STUDIO: Fall-like Famly Room that is neutral

DESIGN STUDIO: A neutral but "Fall-like" Family Room is our focus today.

How to create this look?

1. LAYERS! Notice the throws and layers of pillows. That adds the warmth.

2. Floral pieces. Just because they are not fresh cut flowers, adding pops of color with branches, feathers and fruit will add life to your room.

3. Something unexpected is always great in a space. I LOVE the wreath hanging on the mirror. And did you notice the spinning wheel? How fun!

4. Add a dark element to a room. The old designer trick of "something black in every room" still holds true. The black coffee table grounds this space.

5. Mixing patterns. The area rug shows off the most pattern in this room but they also have zebra print, floral in the chair and dining area and even simple pieces such as the silhouette pillows give added print.

SO I hope you will use this room as inspiration to jazz up your neutral space and make it warm for fall weather. I would love to know what is YOUR FAVORITE part of this space. Go ahead...tell me!
